Projects!

I know! I know it looks like a pile of nothing at the moment but it will all soon make sense soon! Currently we're working on a couple of different things. The first is the pile of plastic bags in the first picture. I finally have started to make items from recycled plastic bags by using wax paper and an iron but of course this is after months of forgetting to pick some wax paper up at the store. They're all cut and ready to be sewn but I'm just trying to the right design to use them.

Now you are probably wondering about those cute little kitties as well right? Well it is the year of the tiger! They're custom silk screened tigers we're ironing onto various items to be sold in the next week!

We also have 5 million other projects and up coming events this week and in the coming months! We'll keep you posted about all of the events and much more soon!

Peace out everyone.

I HAz Assistant

I HAz Assistant - Jason.
It looks like I've been beating him.

I realized that I can't do this entire operation by my lonesome anymore without some type of help. I've been in business for over 6 years and have done most of the day to day operations entirely by myself and as my business grew extremely it got harder for me to keep up with it all. Thus, one of my good friends from my local otaku group, Jason, was hired. So far he's been a HUGE help with day to day operations with his background in graphics and technical stuffs. Now I can create easily without having to stress out about posting items online for sale or maintaining the shop.

Welcome Jason to the Sentient Workshop crew everyone and make sure to check out all of the new item he posts for me in the shop .

The Girl from MOOGLE

Well well well .. it looks like I've been absent again from the blog once more. I swear this time I have a decent excuse! Well, sorta. I'm working again as a teacher, finishing up my next to last semester of college, and recently became the staff member of Anime Programming for Mid-South Con through a group called MOOGLE.

MOOGLE, or better known as the Memphis Order of Otakus, Gamers, and Elemental Ninjas, which is made up of people who are mostly Mid-South Con goers who enjoy a lot of anime and gaming. I joined because I saw a posting on the forums for con over a month ago and thought it would be a great way for me to get out of the house and talk to other people about anime. Anywho, its helped me get into making con a more enjoyable experience for myself and others who are seriously into anime.

So what else am I doing? Well a lot. I'm getting ready for the holiday bazaar or better known as the "how many pieces can Katie create and can it reach over 300 items this year?" bazaar. I'd get a photo of it but the laptop went down again and is awaiting diagnosis. Yet, it seems when the laptop is down I am much more inclined to blog. Go figure. I guess you'll be seeing much more of me this month blogging!

Happy October!

A couple of stressful days

Broken
Acrylic and watercolour on paper

So one of my sister in laws has been in the hospital this week because of complications due to a nasty infection plus she has other stuff that is going on with her body that is really nasty. I know she's been suffering a lot so after visiting her in the hospital and hearing about the fun times she had with nurses. One who couldn't take blood with the constant chaos of her floor and I tried to reflect that in this piece.

Other then that I have been dealing with my past employer. I worked at a summer camp for the last couple of months from a summer camp where I taught art but the place turned out to have financial troubles. The week before camp ended they decided to get rid of all of the teachers because the money was gone. Then yesterday I checked my bank account and found one of my paychecks from last week bounced. I felt like I was having to pull teeth to get the money I was owed back from them.

Its been a stressful couple of days. Hopefully things will be getting better.
