The Girl from MOOGLE

Well well well .. it looks like I've been absent again from the blog once more. I swear this time I have a decent excuse! Well, sorta. I'm working again as a teacher, finishing up my next to last semester of college, and recently became the staff member of Anime Programming for Mid-South Con through a group called MOOGLE.

MOOGLE, or better known as the Memphis Order of Otakus, Gamers, and Elemental Ninjas, which is made up of people who are mostly Mid-South Con goers who enjoy a lot of anime and gaming. I joined because I saw a posting on the forums for con over a month ago and thought it would be a great way for me to get out of the house and talk to other people about anime. Anywho, its helped me get into making con a more enjoyable experience for myself and others who are seriously into anime.

So what else am I doing? Well a lot. I'm getting ready for the holiday bazaar or better known as the "how many pieces can Katie create and can it reach over 300 items this year?" bazaar. I'd get a photo of it but the laptop went down again and is awaiting diagnosis. Yet, it seems when the laptop is down I am much more inclined to blog. Go figure. I guess you'll be seeing much more of me this month blogging!

Happy October!

Children with Artittude Problems

So I'm starting private art lessons with a couple of kids this week and I've found that I needed to expand upon it more so. Today, Sentient Workshop has a new sister, My Child's Artittude. So check out the website - http://sites.google.com/site/mychildsartittude/ and tell me what you think!

A couple of stressful days

Broken
Acrylic and watercolour on paper

So one of my sister in laws has been in the hospital this week because of complications due to a nasty infection plus she has other stuff that is going on with her body that is really nasty. I know she's been suffering a lot so after visiting her in the hospital and hearing about the fun times she had with nurses. One who couldn't take blood with the constant chaos of her floor and I tried to reflect that in this piece.

Other then that I have been dealing with my past employer. I worked at a summer camp for the last couple of months from a summer camp where I taught art but the place turned out to have financial troubles. The week before camp ended they decided to get rid of all of the teachers because the money was gone. Then yesterday I checked my bank account and found one of my paychecks from last week bounced. I felt like I was having to pull teeth to get the money I was owed back from them.

Its been a stressful couple of days. Hopefully things will be getting better.

quarter pieces

Its not a lie when I say I enjoy working ridiculously small. I enjoy the challenge and sometimes the small amount of paint I use to create these babies that are really just a bit bigger then a quarter or a half-dollar coin. I've not completely figured out how to mount them yet but possibly in a shadow box type frame. Any suggestions?

A little twisted and more time on my hands

Unicorn Slaughter

Pesky Tinks

Well work ended abruptly last week for me when they said they ran out of money and couldn't afford to keep any of the teachers. Cruddy huh? Oh well, I've got better things to do like paint, get student loan stuff together, and actually run my business. This new small series is about when little girls grow up they begin to change. They slaughter, maim, kill, or destroy the fantasy they once loved in order to become "proper" young ladies that are fit for society.

There's yet another image in the series to be completed involving the little mermaid (I'll leave what happens to her up to your imagination).
